TwiHards

If you're going to be a Twihard, you've got to pick a side. Will you join the vamps on Team Edward or run with the pack on Team Jacob? Stephenie Meyer's vampire-human romance novels (and the subsequent films) spawned a vampire mania that has manifested itself in the form of screaming, crying, hyperventilating, white-painted, fake-fang-wearing fans. Some favor the caring vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), while others root for Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), the underdog werewolf who has big muscles and rides motorbikes but somehow still doesn't get the girl. Whole families form tent cities for days outside premieres, hoping to catch a glimpse of the often shirtless Lautner or the brooding Brit Pattinson. Young girls dream of finding a "real" love like Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward's and gossip endlessly about the rumored ups and downs of the couple's real-life romance. While seeing gaggles of frenetic teen fans is nothing new, seeing grown women fight over life-sized Edward cutouts and obsess over 18-year-old Lautner's abdominal muscles comes as a bit of a surprise. Twimoms may have been introduced to the Twilight series by their daughters, but they have created a bloodthirsty fan group all their own.

Time Magazine’s Top Leaks

With word today that government documents regarding the deployment in Afghanistan have been leaked, Time magazine decided to do a retrospective on it’s personal Top Ten Leaks. they have everything from Watergate and Deep Throat to Sarah Palin’s emails. Midnight Sun comes in at number 6. Time sums it up by saying:

“In 2008, she tried something different (sort of) by retelling the events of the first books, only from Edward’s point of view. Sooner than you can say “glittering vampire,” 12 unfinished chapters from the new manuscript, Midnight Sun, appeared on the Internet. “I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being,” Meyer said in a message to fans. Rather than punish her loyal following, Meyer posted her entire unfinished Midnight Sun draft on her website. The only catch is that it’s unprintable — better bring an e-reader.”
