Can Taylor Lautner make it as a movie star outside of the “Twilight” comfort zone? Well, we’re about to find out. Taylor is currently Hollywood’s Golden Boy, and he's being offered every hot script in town.
First up is “Abduction,” a thriller directed by Oscar-nominated John Singleton, which just began filming this month and will be released in 2011. Then he goes back to his “Twilight” family, with the production of “Breaking Dawn,” Part One, to be filmed later this year and released in 2011 as well.
Then Lautner’s considerable martial arts skills will be put to use in “Cancun,” then he has back to back projects “Max Steel” and “Northern Lights,” as well as Part Two of “Breaking Dawn.”
Biggest of all, perhaps, is Lautner’s very own superhero movie. Universal Studios has announced that Lautner has been cast in “Stretch Armstrong,” a 3D epic based on the rubbery Hasbro toy from the 1970s.
“In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office,” says Universal Pictures co-chairman Donna Langley. “He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely superhero with a fantastic super power. We couldn’t be more pleased that he has agreed to be our Stretch.”
