Still no confirmed release dates for 'Bel Ami'

There’s lots of speculation on the internet regarding release dates for ‘Bel Ami’ starring Robert Pattinson, Uma Thurman and Christina Ricci. The most recent one being that the release date in France will be May 18, 2011, this information is currently posted on the Studio Canal website.

In an effort to verify this and perhaps get some more official information, belamifilm.com contacted Protagonist Pictures directly. We asked them if they could confirm any release dates, for any country. Their response was:

‘No confirmed release date as yet so anything circulating on the web is purely speculative.’

When we asked specifically about the Studio Canal release date, we were told that date is a tentative release date … and is likely to change

Our questions regarding when we might see the highly anticipated trailer for the film were left unanswered.

And finally, Protagonist Pictures were able to confirm to belamifilm.com that Bel Ami will in fact be screening at film festivals in the future but they have not yet decided on which ones. We will keep you posted on this as we find out more.

It looks as though we will have to wait a little longer to get some North American distributor news as well as some official release dates for the film. Wish we had more confirmed information to share but we will keep you posted as we hear more.

Robert Pattinson... Through the Eyes of his Co-Stars

Robert Pattinson has been everywhere lately in the movie business, and for good reason! It seems that actors who have worked with Rob are willing to sing his praises over and over again. Here are a few:

"As a person, he's not like anyone I've ever met in Hollywood, and as an actor he's a complete natural. He has no ego. Everyone loves him, but he's una ffected by that and never seems fazed by the attention that comes his way." - Ashley Greene (Twilight Saga)

"And working with Rob was amazing. He's such a great guy, so talented." - Christina Ricci (Bel Ami)

He's is a super nice guy. I'm really happy for him that he's gone on to be so uber successful."- Emma Watson(Harry Potter)

"Rob Pattinson is a sex symbol. Rob Pattinson is a genuine sexy guy." - Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter)

"[Robert is a] shy guy...humble. I don't think anything can get to him really. He's so talented. I've never met someone who can just do anything and everything!" - Kellan Lutz (Twilight Saga)

"I think he wants to be a serious actor, and he is a lovely guy. So realizing what he has to deal with, all the demands of the Twilight popularity and the distractions, I think he's handling it amazingly well." - Chris Cooper(Remember Me)

"He's a really great actor and a really good guy." - Hugh Jackman (Unbound Captives)

"I think he's bold and different" - Kristen Stewart (Twilight Saga)

Christina Ricci Talks Robert Pattinson and Bel Ami

By Brandon Voss

love how casually you just namedropped R-Patz. Are you a Twilight fan?

OK, first of all, publicists train you to say your credits along with your costars. You can’t be shy about self-promotion; it’s like Kathy Griffin or something. [Laughs] I’m a very lazy pop culture fan—if it involves leaving my living room, I’m pretty clueless—so I’ve never seen a single Twilight movie, and I guess I missed it when it was on Starz. But Rob’s a lovely individual.

Do you two share a love scene in Bel Ami?

We do. But he’s like your best friend’s little brother, so we would just laugh and make fun of each other the entire time. He thought it was outrageous how comfortable I was being naked. I was like, “That’s because I’m 20 years older than you.” Seriously, I’ve never felt so old in my entire life.

Christina Ricci Warns: Prepare Yourself for a Different Robert Pattinson

Moviegoers are used to seeing Robert Pattinson onscreen as the most-stand up vampire around. But Christina Ricci warns that’s going to end very soon.

Pattinson and Ricci both completed “Bel Ami” which Pattinson plays a young man rising to power in Paris using the city’s most influential and wealthy women.

“The world is used to seeing him one way, and he’s very, very different in this movie,” Ricci tells PopcornBiz from the Blackberry Torch from AT&T launch party, “But he’s an actor, that’s what it’s about. And he’s really great in this.”

Pattinson, who somehow has managed to stay a faithful and sexless through three “Twilight” films, works his way through Parisian society in “Bel Ami.” At the press conference during the “Eclipse” release, Pattinson gleefully talked about his “Bel Ami” character Georges Duroy who he called “a completely amoral, evil character.”

“He seduces his wife and seduces absolutely every single one of his wife’s friends. Any influential woman he can get he has an affair with,” said Pattison. “And then ends up screwing over the entire society and ends up making millions and millions of francs.”

Pattinson taps into some serious actresses in Ricci and Uma Thurman. His Duroy is such a cad that he not only dumps Ricci once, but several times as he rises to the top.

“We have an on-off relationship through the whole movie and I get my heart broken a few times,” says Ricci.

And does she handle her onscreen heartbreaks with less drama than Pattinson’s co-star Kristen Stewart who famously went through vampire withdrawal during “New Moon” in a big way?

“Yes, I do,” she admits. “But there’s a little screaming, but that’s par for the course for a relationship.”

While filming is complete, no official release date has not been set for “Bel Ami,” — though it looks to hit US screens in the spring of next year.

Folks who prefer the nice Rob won’t have to wait long. Pattinson will be back to his filming his faithful vampire character, Edward Cullen, in the fall for the final two “Twilight” installments.

InStyle: Exclusive! Christina Ricci Dishes on Kissing Robert Pattinson

At last night’s Blackberry Torch launch in L.A., Christina Ricci couldn’t contain her feelings for her Bel Ami co-star Robert Pattinson. “We would just goof off and laugh while we were working—he’s a sweet guy and super funny…and a really good kisser!” she told us. And what was her favorite part of filming? “The costumes, the makeup and… Rob!” But Ricci admitted she hasn’t even seen the films that are responsible for his fame. “I was waiting for [The Twilight Saga films] to be on TV because the theaters were so crowded, but there’s no excuse!” Ricci also said it’s easy to understand why Kristen Stewart, who stopped by the set several times, is so smitten with her Twilight and real-life co-star Pattinson: “He’s so charming and such a smart guy. He’s so super organized and in charge of his career. He was actually giving me advice!” the veteran actress said.

A New Robert Pattinson In 'Bel Ami'

Moviegoers are used to seeing Robert Pattinson onscreen as the most-stand up vampire around. But Christina Ricci warns that's going to end very soon.

Pattinson and Ricci both completed "Bel Ami" which Pattinson plays a young man rising to power in Paris using the city's most influential and wealthy women.

"The world is used to seeing him one way, and he's very, very different in this movie," Ricci tells PopcornBiz from the Blackberry Torch from AT&T launch party, "But he's an actor, that's what it's about. And he's really great in this."

Pattinson, who somehow has managed to stay a faithful and sexless through three "Twilight" films, works his way through Parisian society in "Bel Ami." At the press conference during the "Eclipse" release, Pattinson gleefully talked about his "Bel Ami" character Georges Duroy who he called "a completely amoral, evil character."

"He seduces his wife and seduces absolutely every single one of his wife’s friends. Any influential woman he can get he has an affair with," said Pattison. "And then ends up screwing over the entire society and ends up making millions and millions of francs."

Pattinson taps into some serious actresses in Ricci and Uma Thurman. His Duroy is such a cad that he not only dumps Ricci once, but several times as he rises to the top.

"We have an on-off relationship through the whole movie and I get my heart broken a few times," says Ricci.

And does she handle her onscreen heartbreaks with less drama than Pattinson's co-star Kristen Stewart who famously went through vampire withdrawal during "New Moon" in a big way?

"Yes, I do," she admits. "But there's a little screaming, but that's par for the course for a relationship."

While filming is complete, no official release date has not been set for "Bel Ami," -- though it looks to hit US screens in the spring of next year.

Folks who prefer the nice Rob won't have to wait long. Pattinson will be back to his filming his faithful vampire character, Edward Cullen, in the fall for the final two "Twilight" installments.

Christina Ricci: Rob fans are "awesome"

"Not really, I mean, everyone did a really good job of containing the paparazzi and the fans were really respectful."

—Robert Pattinson's Bel Ami costar, Christina Ricci, at BlackBerry's launch party for the new BlackBerry Torch from AT&aT, when we asked if the constant fan and paparazzi attention affected filming.

We've seen some, uh, rather intense Twi-hards in our day, so does that mean they're all tucked away in their coffins until Breaking Dawn?

Added the svelte cutie: "[Pattinson's] fans, in particular, get behind his career. They're not going to screw up his career by ruining his next movie. They were awesome. They applauded people when we came out of set; they were there and super psyched we were in Budapest or wherever we were."

We see new pap shots of Rob or Kristen Stewart on set no matter what movie they're working on, so glad to hear it doesn't bug the rest of the cast. Probably doesn't bother Ricci much either because she totally loved working with R.Pattz, and meeting his gorgeous GF.
