James Franco Compare 'Eclipse' Tent Scene to That in 'Brokeback Mountain'

By now, most dedicated Twi-hards probably realize that they can count Milk hunk James Franco among their ranks. And now the actor/scholar/heartthrob is speaking out about what he finds so appealing about the hugely successful vampire franchise.
Regarding Stephenie Meyer's series of books, the Howl actor notes that it's fascinating to consider how the undead would fit into the high-school environment, and how their status as perhaps the ultimate outsiders serves as an amped-p surrogate for run-of-the-mill teen angst:

I’m interested in the metaphor of the vampire placed in the high school setting and how a relationship with a vampire can stand in for general feelings that people have as teenagers. And the obsession people have with that is also fascinating to me.”

And as for how Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner play out that drama on the big screen? Franco finds parallels between the Twilight movies and the 2005 Oscar-winning gay-cowboy flick Brokeback Mountain:

“There will be a scene where the go-to guys, Taylor and Rob, are in the tent, it’s almost like a Brokeback Mountain scene, where the two guys are talking in a tent and the girl is asleep, and they’re having, like, this romantic moment almost through her, in a way. One of them says, ‘Well, I’m hotter than you,’ and it’s almost like they’re winking at the fans, like to the Team Jacob or the Team Edwards.”

No wonder the fans just can't quit them.

Jame's Franco to join Breaking Dawn cast?

Is another famous face primed to join Breaking Dawn?

James Franco recently gave an interview to Esquire in which he reveals that he’s reading Twilight and explains, “It’s for a project.”

Even though the actor added, “But that [project] is way, way off. It’s just something I’m thinking about,” his choice of reading material — not surprisingly — inspired a lot of chatter.

“It’s very possible that James Franco could be joining your favorite vampire and werewolf hotties in Breaking Dawn!” chimes HollywoodLife. Dozens of other outlets, including MTV, also wondered whether the busy Eat Pray Love actor could be sinking his teeth into a Breaking Dawn role.

Well, for good or for bad: It’s not happening.

A rep for Franco tells Gossip Cop the speculation about him joining Breaking Dawn is “not true.”

Rumors often seem to come from thin air, their origins a mystery. Given the Esquire piece, this one is at least somewhat more reasonable — but it’s still inaccurate.

James Franco is reading Twilight

When asked what he's reading, Franco smiles his ungrudgingly adolescent smile, a grin as terminally satisfying as the last healthy squeeze on a tube of toothpaste. He is engaging, for just a second, in the mutual diction of actor and artist — "It's for a project," he says. But the word — project — thumps out of him unprecious and without bluster, as if he were naming a day of the week. He's always got something going. He flips the book over. Twilight.

Keep in mind: The position of things is such that he doesn't have to show the book. Had he said Jude the Obscure, no one would have been the wiser. He's a graduate student, after all, enrolled in two universities at pretty much any given moment. "It's crazy how much sexual tension there is," he says. "It just builds and builds. I mean it never stops. It's sort of explosive by the end. Crazy. Like they'll blow up with it. And of course, they don't." He shrugs then, a good shrug, because he is selling nothing with it. "Which is the point too, I guess."
