Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart's 'Eclipse' Gets Mixed Response from Critics

Stephanie Meyer’s immensely popular teen vampire love saga based Twilight’s third offering, ‘Eclipse’, has found favor with the critics who have praised the movie no ends. The movie has catapulted Kristen Stewart (Bella) and Robert Pattinson ( Edward) into instant stardom and Twilight’s fan following is growing monumentally.

The critics have said that the third installment of the Twilight saga- "Eclipse", is so lucid in its presentation that even if someone has not seen the first two parts, watching the third part should be an enthralling experience.

"It took three films, but 'The Twilight Saga' finally nails just the right tone in 'Eclipse,' " says The Hollywood Reporter. "Where the first film leaned heavily on camp and the second faltered through caution and slickness, 'Eclipse' moves confidently into the heart of the matter – a love triangle that causes a young woman to realize choices lead to consequences that cannot be reversed."

Baltimore Sun book blogger Nancy Knight says, "The 'Twilight' saga is getting better," As an after thought she quickly adds, "Or maybe my expectations have finally been lowered enough." She said that the acting is poor like the other two parts yet the movie is more entertaining than its predecessors. Nancy is among a few minority of the critics who have not found Eclipse as good as the others are saying it is.

The New York Times agrees that "Eclipse" "raises the level of romantic intensity considerably" and has "a bit more humor on display." Overall, says the Times review, "Eclipse" is a "more robustly entertaining film than either of its predecessors."

"The kids are growing up," says the Los Angeles Times, referring less to the characters from the books – Bella, Edward, and Jacob – than to the actors who play them: "Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner who finally, have figured out how to breathe life into the characters first created by publishing phenom Stephenie Meyer."

There were dissenting voices too who were not impressed by the movie. Claudia plug advised in USA Today, “Keep your shirt on.’Eclipse' isn't that awesome." She however conceded that ‘Eclipse’ is the most romantic of the films. She predicted that "Twilight" fans will be happy,

Peter Rainer, The Monitor’s critic, too was unimpressed by ‘Eclipse’ and gave the movie a ‘C’ grade. He wrote, “‘Twilight’ is essentially an adolescent female fantasia about coming to terms with one’s sexuality. There I’ve said it. And I’m sure no one else has ever said it."
