The Twilight Saga Soundtracks Available on Blu-ray, DVD, and iTunes

Summit Entertainment's Music Videos and Performances from The Twilight Saga Soundtracks Volume 1 on Blu-ray and DVD is currently available nationwide at all retailers and for digital download exclusively on iTunes. The groundbreaking "visual soundtrack" is an unprecedented collection of music videos and live performances from bands featured on the chart topping soundtracks from each of the three Twilight Saga films, of which the latest, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is currently nominated for a 2011 Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack.

Music Videos and Performances from The Twilight Saga Soundtracks Volume 1 is the first-of-its-kind music video soundtrack highlighting 22 songs by famous artists, including: Muse "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)," Paramore "Decode," Death Cab for Cutie "Meet Me On The Equinox," and Cee-Lo "What Part Of Forever." Both the Blu-ray and DVD feature a "Continuous Play Option," just like a CD, so viewers can play the content as a continuous loop.

Said Steve Nickerson, President of Summit Home Entertainment, "These days, people want to both hear and see their music, whether on computers, cell phones or iPods. The Twilight Saga Soundtracks lets audiences fall in love again with the films' songs, along with the added value of new videos from their favorite artists. This is a cool, must-have item for all Twilight Saga fans."

"This release represents a new generation of soundtracks which feature both audio and video - not just audio alone," says Steve Devick, CEO of Concert Hot Spot which produced the disc. "It provides a new dimension to The Twilight Saga's music and theatrical films with authentic videos and live performances with the actual artists -- some of which have never been seen before."

The Music Videos and Performances from The Twilight Saga Soundtracks Volume 1 executive producers are Steve Devick, Paul Katz of Eye2Ear Music who consults Summit Entertainment on all music matters, and Alexandra Patsavas (Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy), owner of Chop Shop Music Supervision.

"The Twilight Saga family of worldwide music artists each contributed their own unique visual interpretation of their recorded tracks in a stunning manner. This is a truly wonderful collection that complements the three music soundtracks and their respective films," said Katz.

Adds Patsavas, "The Twilight Saga Soundtracks is a gorgeous new collection from our music artists who have interpreted their songs and visuals as an extension of The Twilight Saga experience."

Kellan Lutz Louisiana Scene Interview Online

We revealed the cover shot of Kellan last week. Now the interview itself is out.

“The success of Twilight rocketed its cast into the stratosphere, making Kellan and company household names overnight. But while the character of Emmett has given Kellan great exposure, he hasn’t been identified with the role in the same way that Christopher Reeve, while a talented actor, was forever Superman. The result is a great deal of freedom. “It’s been such an amazing process. I fell into acting and I found a passion for it and it’s really like a hobby to me. I have a great agent, we’ve been best friends, and we have the same dream: to not care about the money and to not care about the fame. We can be cool and collected and really plan my career.”

New Moon scene recreated with Legos

I'm an enormous film fan and when I was growing up everybody had a big bucket of Lego or knew somebody who did," says film student Alex Eylar, 22, of Oakland, Calif.

The aspiring screenwriter began collecting LEGOs when he was five years old and now he boasts somewhere in the neighborhood of 30,000 pieces in his collection, which he now uses to recreate classic movie scenes.

"I make all my Lego projects at a table in the corner of [my] living room. I've got five of those big plastic drawer bureaus, filled with pieces divided by color, style, function. For smaller projects, the build can be finished in less than half an hour. It all depends on the amount of detail and the scale of the scene," he tells Paul Andrews of PacificCoastNews.com.

Eylar, who is studying for his Master's degree in screenwriting at Chapman University in Orange, Calif., says it's the photography that takes the longest because he needs to get the effects right - and that could lead to days of work. Although he says the James Bond scene only took him a few minutes.

And none of the LEGO pieces are custom made. "I'm too much of a purist," he says, preferring to utilize only original blocks.

But what happens to these miniature movie sets after he's finished photographing them?

"After each set is built and photographed I tear it down. I can't afford to keep them built - I need the pieces," he says.

Twilight’ Star Billy Burke Talks Tunes

Best known for his role as Charlie Swan in the ‘Twilight Saga,’ Billy Burke is far more than a small town sheriff caught up in the supernatural world of Bella, Edward and Jacob. The actor is a veteran of both the big and small screens, but most people don’t know he’s also an accomplished musician with a new album, ‘Removed,’ making waves all across the charts.

MTV talks about the “Harry Potter” Vs “Twilight” Debate

If you caught our “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ premierelive stream last week then you’ve already been introduced to the fact that I am a pretty huge “Harry Potter” fan. I’ve been reading these books since I was 11 years old and seen each film the weekend it’s been released since “Sorcerer’s Stone” first hit theaters.

That being said, I’ve also kept up to date on the “Twilight” franchise, though I didn’t get into the books until after “Eclipse” was released. I thought “Breaking Dawn” was a pretty big letdown (so sue me, I thought Edward was going to reclaim his “soul” and return to his human form, allowing him and Bella to live happily ever after without her being changed to a vampire), and I haven’t been in love with the movies. So while my “Twilight” knowledge ranks up there with the best of them, I wouldn’t say I’m the series’ biggest fan.

Now that I have fully disclosed where I stand on the “Potter” versus “Twilight” debate, it should come as no surprise that I was pretty disappointed when I found out that Moviefone decided that “Twilight” did a better job converting the novels to the screen than “Harry Potter” did. Uhh, what? Andrew Sims from Mugglenetdebated Laura Byrne-Cristiano’s, the co-leading lady over at Twilight Lexicon. The debate was a little skewed because both Andrew and Laura are fans of their respective opposingfranchises (and both had/have fan sites dedicated to them as well!)… but somehow Laura managed to get the best of Andrew and give “Twilight” the lead.

Producers are taking no chances in Louisiana...

Twilight bosses are reportedly planning to step up security on the Breaking Dawn set in Louisiana to protect stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Following reports that the set in Brazil was vandalised, producers have asked for increased security to stop Twihard fans gatecrashing Raleigh Studios, where the cast will be shooting vital scenes for the fourth installment.

.‘Breaking Dawn’ Controversy! Who Will Design Edward & Bella’s Cake?

Though an earlier report fingered a small Louisiana bakery as the one designing Edward & Bella’s epic cake, a source tells us not to break out the candles just yet!

Breaking Dawn is knee-deep in delicious, frosted drama! A Nov. 17 report claimed that Fairy Dust Cakes, an adorable cake shop in Denham Springs, La., was designing Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) wedding cake for the movie — but don’t get too excited! A source close to the cake shop tells HollywoodLife.com that although “someone from the acquisitions department” at Summit Entertainment called the owner of Fairy Dust Cakes and offered them the task, the studio later called back and “freaked out!”

“Summit told Fairy Dust they had been chosen to design the cake, but after it hit all the Twilight blogs, they got upset because they didn’t want any information about the cake out there,” our source reveals. “They told the shop that they would look into the matter and get back to them about it.”

Wow, this story just keeps developing new layers! We understand that Summit wants to keep Breaking Dawn details under wraps, but after seeing photos of cakes previously designed by Fairy Dust, we think it’s the PERFECT choice to create the sugary manifestation of Edward and Bella’s eternal love.

Hey "Twilight" Fans, "Firelight" Movie is Coming

Back in 2009, "Saturday Night Live" released a trailer for "Firelight" about a rebellious girl (Taylor Swift) who falls for Frankenstein's monster and a mummy. This was clearly a spoof of "Twilight," but Variety is now reporting that a real "Firelight" movie is in the works.

It has nothing to do with the "SNL" parody and will be based on the three-book series by best-selling author Sophie Jordan. But if you read the plot summary, the new movie will clearly go after the "Twilight" audience.

Plot: With her rare ability to breathe fire, Jacinda is special even among the draki — the descendants of dragons who can shift between human and dragon forms. But when Jacinda's rebelliousness leads her family to flee into the human world, she struggles to adapt, even as her draki spirit fades. The one thing that revives it is Will, whose family hunts her kind. Jacinda can't resist getting closer to him, even though she knows she's risking not only her life but the draki's most closely guarded secret.

So the question is......

Will you be tuning in or is this another "plot" trying to cash in on the Twilight Phenomenon?

Has the Twilight Star-Makin' Machine Malfunctioned?

If you recall, we thought that when smoldering newcomer Xavier Samuel joined the cast of Eclipse last year, all hell would break loose when he became the next hot thing to infringe of Rob's precious territory.

Well, that was then. Zero tabloid drama and one Kate Gosselin haircut later, nobody's talking about Samuel—not even us.

So now that new guy Rami Malek—who we'll admit is quite the exotic-lookin' looker—is signed on for Breaking Dawn: Part II, is it too early to start swooning? Or is it just about time to start yawning?

We thought Twilight makes a star out of everyone, but that clearly wasn't the case with Samuel, or even with Bryce Dallas Howard (who was already a star, but no thanks to the vamp franchise). Fans just didn't embrace them with the cult following that they did for the main cast in the first few movies.

Rob, Kristen, Taylor, Nikki, Kellan and Ashley got the benefits of the Twilight star-making machine launching their careers, but has the engine since sputtered out?

Don't get us wrong—Twi is absolutely huge, and people will clamor for the autograph of the guy who was an extra behind Edward and Bella in chemistry class.

But if the rise-and-fall of potential heartthrob Samuel was any indication, we have to admit, we made a mistake by thinking too far ahead.

So Malek, we're not gonna even say a peep about you.

For one thing, it's too damn early, since the dude's not even in the first Breaking Dawn flick. But more importantly, we don't want to set up too high of expectations.

Because then we'll just be devastated when we're left with our mouths open, our tongues hanging, and our loins still burning for some hunky Twilight messy stuff.

Hockey star busted reading ‘Twilight’

Twenty-one year old Patrick Kane plays hockey for the Chicago Blackhawks, who won the Stanley Cup this year. How has he been keeping busy lately? His mom spilled the beans that she found him reading Breaking Dawn in his bedroom.

It was his mother, Donna, who caught the 21-year-old in the act — of reading a book.

While the fourth installment of the “Twilight” series isn’t exactly Tolstoy, the image of Kane in the bedroom of his Buffalo childhood home, curled up with a book instead of carousing on the streets of his hometown, is fairly startling.

“Ohhhh,” Kane said with a laugh after regaining his composure. “She would throw me under the bus like that. I watched the first three movies and was really interested … so I decided to read the fourth book. I kind of snuck it in there, and she walked in a couple of times with me reading the book. I tried to hide it, but it wasn’t happening.”
As Donna Kane sees it, the fact her son is taking the time to read is an indication he’s maturing off the ice as well as he has on it.

“When Patrick was a rookie at training camp the first year, they had him rooming with (veteran) Kevyn Adams,” Donna Kane said. “Patrick walked into the hotel room and Kevyn was reading a book and Patrick said, ‘Why would you want to read when you don’t have to?’ Kevyn said, ‘Pat, it’s good for you, it teaches you, especially if you enjoy what you’re reading.’

“So what does Patrick do this summer? He’s reading a 700-page book."

What a cute story. And it sounds like he has taken up hobbies such as reading and charity events, to stay out of trouble! Good for him.

Empire: The Case For Twilight's Bella Swan, Feminist

A lot's been said about Twilight over the last couple of years. Often it's been said by people who have neither read the books nor seen the films (so, like, you don't know, man, you weren't there), but since Twilight is a huge cultural phenomenon, that's to be expected. Whether you've deliberately exposed yourself to the series or not, you probably know a few things about it. There's a girl who falls in love with a sparkly vampire. It was written by a Mormon housewife, so they don't have sex outside marriage. And you've probably heard that Bella's an appalling role model for modern teenagers, regularly denounced by feminists and any right-thinking person. Now while I'm not going to make excuses for the series as a whole (well, I might make a few), watching the third film - Eclipse - last weekend, I'm beginning to be irritated by the dismissal of its feminist credentials. The following discussion contains spoilers for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, so don't read on if you don't want to know what happens.

First of all, let's think about author Stephenie Meyer for a moment. Sure, she's religious, and was a housewife when writing the books, and that's not supposed to be what feminists strive towards. On the other hand, the point of feminism was to give equal opportunities, not to say that no woman should ever be a housewife again. And as careers go, and as I think we can all agree that, at this point, Ms Meyer is almost certainly the principal earner in her particular family. So it doesn't seem as though either her religion or her choice (I hope it was a choice) not to work while raising her children has held her back.

And then there's Bella herself. Bella whose every waking thought is about some boy / creature of the night. Bella whose boyfriend Edward keeps trying to make decisions for her, and who goes all to pieces when he leaves. Bella who gets married at 19 and has a baby almost at once (really almost at once because the gestation is all screwy) and who refuses to consider abortion despite huge risk to her own life. At the same time, though - and particularly as played by Kristen Stewart in the Melissa Rosenberg-scripted films - I kinda respect her. Once having fallen head over heels for some guy (unwise) she starts making her own decisions and following her own path (wise), and while her choices wouldn't be mine* that doesn't make them bad or wrong.

Do I wish that modern entertainment would portray more women as independent creatures not obsessed with finding the perfect guy? Sure. Do I think that abortion should be destigmatised onscreen and at least presented as a viable option (especially in cases of maternal danger!)?** Yes. Do marriages entered into between a 19 year-old and a 107 year-old typically last? Not so much. Should we all have the mental fortitude to resist whatever romantic vicisitudes life or sparkly vampires throw at us and not wimp into months of depression, and should we arguably demythologise romantic love and maintain some sort of self in our love lives? Of course.

But Bella's not responsible for righting the wrongs of a generation just because she ended up more popular than other characters. Holding her up for particular blame or shame just because Twilight became a phenomenon isn't really helpful; at the very least (and again, more in the films than the books) she's a well-rounded female character on screen, and that in itself is something to welcome with open arms. The problem is less with her per se and more in the fact that we don't have enough such female characters. It's the same with many other characters on film: there tends to be outrage every time we see a negative portrayal of a gay character onscreen, or Muslim character, or name-your-minority-here, simply because there aren't enough of them overall to balance things out. We don't get up in arms every time we see a white, straight male bad guy because - hey! - the hero's almost certainly white, straight and male as well. Feminists don't - or shouldn't - demand that every woman on screen live up to some feminist ideal when the population as a whole doesn't; what's irritating to us (unless they revoke my membership for not hating Twilight) is when every single screen lady apparently lives to find a bloke, be killed in a third-act shock or just be sidelined, just as it's irritating when every single person of Arab origin onscreen seems to be a terrorist.

The Real Science Behind Sparkly Vampires

One of the most chastised elements in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga is the fact that her tough-as-nails vampires sparkle. Perhaps the masses could get over the lack of pointy teeth, and maybe even the ability to go out in the sunlight, but to sparkle when the sun hits? Blasphemy! Anne Rice making her old vamps have papery skin is one thing, but likening a killer's visage with a sparkly diamond is another thing entirely. Dracula is rolling over in his dirt-lined crypt!

But there might be solid science behind the whys. You've just got to stomach this one fact: Vampires are highly evolved insects.

I Like a Little Science in My Fiction has written an excellent post that explains how and why Meyer's vampires sparkle. It all comes down to their many buggy comparisons. The theory starts with the knowledge that most of the hematophages in the world -- a fancy word for blood eaters -- are bugs. Like fleas, vampires must feed before they reproduce, which triggers a painful metamorphosis. Like butterflies, vamps can remember things from their lowly caterpillar/human days. They're cold-blooded, and have a hard exoskeleton instead of soft, pliable skin. Their speed is like that of the super-fast Tiger Beetle, strong like the horned dung beetle, and have eyes that put our human versions to shame.

But finally -- why do they sparkle? The site posits that vampires must be like butterflies -- sometimes known to feed on blood -- who have tiny iridescent scales.

Yes, it's silly, but it also makes a whole lot of sense. So, next time you pull a Bella and gush over Edward's sparkling face and divine beauty, keep in mind -- you might be lusting for a highly evolved insect.
